With all the hype about the new leader class Jetfire, I thought I'd take a look at the old Classics voyager Jetfire. Classics voyager Jetfire is actually a pretty cool update to G1 Jetfire. He doesn't quite look the same as G1 Jetfire but he looks pretty cool and has some good playability for a voyager toy.

He's loaded up with guns. You can configure his robot mode in multiple ways by changing the configuration of the wings, backpack or displaying him with or without his helmet. Even his jet mode can be configured in different ways but changing the position of he wings or removing the thruster pack.

A couple of bad things about this figure is that he's back heavy and has some problems keeping his balance. The best way to help him balance is to deploy is backpack guns and point them forward. Another thing you can do is reverse his backpack and flip the backpack guns downwards. Another thing I don't like is the leg articulation. He bends at the knee and there's a knee swivel but the combination just looks awkward.

I'm not sure whether I'll get the new Jetfire or not. It's gotten a couple of very good reviews on YouTube but I don't know if I need another Jetfire in my collection. If I see it in a store I will probably pick it up.

This figure is awesome. I appreciate that they included the cartoon accurate should cannons and did minor mold changes to his face, the hood of the car and added spoilers to make it more cartoon accurate and different from the MP Prowl and Bluestreak molds. Although, I don't like his cartoon face, I still appreciate that they made it accurate. This is my least favourite of the Datsun molds but it's still awesome.

This is a Transformers third party review of PP-05W Weapon Specialist aka Ironhide from iGear. If you're only familiar with Michael Bay's Transformers movies then you might be thinking, "that looks nothing like Ironhide." Well, this is what Ironhide pretty much looked like in Generation 1. I think that iGear did a great job with this mold. Something to note is that this is not the original colours that he came in. I did some paint touch-ups to give him a more G1 look.

Transformers 4: Age of Extinction is set to open in theatres on June 27th but the toys are already here and I have my first toy of this movie! And surprise, surprise, it's an Optimus Prime toy! This is a voyager class toy and is not even the main vehicle mode of Optimus Prime in the movie but in my opinion is the best Optimus Prime toy from the movie so far.

Unique Toys bring us another pretty great Classics style G1 toy, Soundmixer aka Blaster.

I'm doing a review of Masterpiece Soundblaster before Masterpiece Soundwave because it's taking me forever to upload all the photos for Soundwave, which comes with five cassettes.

The robot mode for Masterpiece Soundwave is pretty much perfect. For Soundblaster, it's a bit more subjective because Soundblaster looked different in the cartoon than the toy. If you're not familiar with who Soundblaster is, he is essentially a rebuilt Soundwave after Soundwave was destroyed in a fight between he and Blaster. This occurred in the Japanese-only cartoon, "Headmasters."

Okay, enough Optimus Prime reviews. Behold... Galvatron...

Finally, we get a figure worthy of the name Galvatron and it's not from Hasbro/Takara Tomy. This comes from the 3rd party company Unique Toys. My previous favourite Galvatron was Energon Galvatron but the alt mode for that figure was not inspired from G1.

Mania King comes in a pretty hefty box packed in foam. It comes with an instruction sheet and the usual pretty well made bio/collector card.

The plastic quality is pretty good. Everything hold together pretty solidly in both modes. The colour scheme could be a little more G1 accurate.

Probably the biggest complaint about this figure is that there is no fist articulation so his arm poses are a little bit limited. Other than that, I think this is a really awesome figure. I can get him in some really awesome looking poses so I'm not complaining too much.

The alt mode is pretty awesome, too. Sure, when a non-Transformers fan looks at it, they may think, "What the heck is that supposed to be?" but for us G1 fans, we know that that is the futurist cannon mode that Galvatron is supposed to have.

I highly recommend this figure for any G1 fan. It's not perfect but it's still an excellent figure.
